The article observes how the cinematic novel organically incorporates verbal narrative with visual and audio imagery (cinematic methods). The work examines stylistic devices of intertextuality and reminiscence within the writer’s emotionally expressive narrative of the war.
The article follows the changes in the author’s individual tone as the cinematic novel integrates the structural elements of various styles: spoken and colloquial, literary and fiction, folklore, reporting and documentary. The article defines the stylistic purpose of the verbalized symbols: land, river, song, family. They create a comprehensive understanding of the text and reveal the psychology of the individual characters and the Ukrainian mentality in general. The characters’ monologues, dialogues and lines reflect the national and linguistic identity of various social groups (farmers, military, government officials).
Key words: cinematic novel style, visual and audio effects, intertextuality, reminiscence, symbols (land, river, folk song), style integration.

REFERENCES
Babych, M.
