The subject of the article is up-to-date as the recent trends of naming locations are analyzed, which, in turn, shows the linguistic aspect of creating of proper names. The proper names characterized in the present research, not only are the linguistic phenomenon, they reflect the psychological and sociological state of the society.
In the presented article it is revealed that the most common names of residential areas are those whose names are derived from the names of locations they are situated, streets and boulevards, i.e. the things the local citizens are familiar with. These are mostly apartments designated for middle-class people and are averagely affordable.
Formation of another group of names has historical background since they come from archaic or dialect words that brings certain luxury to the sounding of locations themselves, demonstrating rich history and traditionalism of the place.
The most popular are noun constructions based on words whose lexical meaning is harmony, comfort, well-being, etc., as well as archaisms and dialects. A significant group of lexemes is made up of words of foreign origin (mostly Anglicisms) or abbreviations that also contain Latin characters. All of the above suggests that the purpose of naming modern residential developments is to make them commercially attractive. These observations make it possible to assert that in modern society there is a demand for traditional archaic values on the one hand, and on the other hand, the striving to adapt to foreign standards, and to imitate what exists abroad, introducing foreign words and names of foreign realities into everyday use, thereby trying to liken the environment of their own residence to them.
Key words: proper names, urbanonym, semantics, residential complex, socio-cultural factor, abbreviation, anglicism.

REFERENCES
Bachynska, H., Tyshkovets, M.
