Abstract<\/strong>
\nThe article examines the influence of Alexander Potebn\u0456a\u2019s linguistic-philosophical concept on the formation of the aesthetic programme of Ukrainian neoclassicism in the 1920s and 1930s. The theoretical works and poetic creativity of M. Zerov, M.Rylsky\u0456, P. F\u0443l\u0443pov\u0443ch, M. Dr\u0430\u0456-Khmara, and Yuri\u0456 Klen are analysed through the prism of Potebn\u0456a\u2019s philosophy of the internal form of the word. It is argued that the cult of perfect form in neoclassical poetry is not just a formalistic phenomenon, but a conscious intellectual strategy for the artistic realisation of Potebn\u0456a\u2019s ideas about the inseparable connection between language, thought and national identity. The study proves that the aestheticisation of the national language corpus through skilful mastery of genre forms (sonnet, tercet, rondo), the principle of cyclisation of the collection and the synthesis of national and European traditions are a practical embodiment of Potebn\u0456a\u2019s concept of poetry as a means of \u2018completing thoughts\u2019 and \u2018forming dreams\u2019. Specific mechanisms of artistic realisation of the concept of the internal form of the word in neoclassical poetic texts are identified. The study demonstrates that neoclassicism organically continued Potebn\u0456a\u2019s tradition of understanding language as an instrument of national and cultural self-identification.
