The article analyzes the specifics of the use of humorous texts in Ukrainian language textbooks for grades 7–9. Our attention was drawn to modern textbooks of comprehensive schools of well-known groups of authors – S. Ya. Yermolenko, V. T. Sychova, M. H. Zhuk; I. P. Yushchuk; O. V. Zabolotnyi, V. V. Zabolotnyi; O. M. Avramenko. These books have been successfully tested in the educational process, have been improved and supplemented. The argument in favor of just such an age category of students was that in adolescence, communication, self-knowledge and the identification of one’s place in society are of particular importance.
The study of the lingual and pragmatic potential of humorous texts in Ukrainian language textbooks showed their didactic appeal and heuristic forcefulness not only in the practical consolidation of the learned linguistic information, but also in the formation of communicative experience and the development of students’ creative thinking. The ability to identify linguistic means of creating a comic, reception of chronologically marked humorous texts, understanding of the specifi cities of Ukrainian laugh culture will promote the harmonious entry of the student into the modern linguistic and cultural space.
Keywords: lingual pragmatics, didactic potential, laugh culture, humorous mini-text, textbook.
