Requirements for design and procedure for submitting publications
RULES FOR AUTHORS
The editorial board of the professional collection “Culture of the Word” accepts for publication original, previously unpublished scientific-theoretical, popular science, research articles on the problems of the Ukrainian language, reviews, materials dedicated to outstanding linguists, anniversaries.
Publication in the collection is free of charge.
Manuscripts should be designed in Ukrainian. Texts should be sent to the editorial office in electronic form – to the editorial office’s e-mail address kultura-slova@ukr.net.
Postgraduate students and applicants submit articles with a recommendation from a scientific supervisor (consultant), head of the department, department, etc.
Together with the article, send a signed License Agreement for the use of the work in electronic form.
Each article in the section, except for “Our Consultations” and “Thoughts Beyond Time”, must have the following components:
• UDC index.
• Digital publication identifier (DOI) (set by the editorial office).
• Article title.
• Information about the author(s).
• Abstract.
• Keywords.
• Main text of the article.
• Information about the authors’ contribution.
• List of sources used (without the name of the section) and accepted CONVENTIONAL ABBREVIATIONS.
• Dates of receipt of the article by the editorial office, its review, and approval for publication (set by the editorial office).
UDC INDEX
The UDC index is placed in the upper left corner of the page.
DIGITAL PUBLICATION IDENTIFIER (DOI)
The DOI digital identifier is placed on a separate line under the UDC index. The DOI digital identifier is assigned by the founder and publisher of the journal.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE AUTHOR(S)
The order of authors must be determined before submitting the manuscript (see “Authorship and co-authorship”). Any changes made after submitting the manuscript must be approved by all authors. The following elements must be indicated in the author information in Ukrainian and English:
• surname, first name, patronymic;
• academic degree, academic title;
• main place of work or study at the time of the research (name of the institution or organization), city, country;
• corporate or individual e-mail of the author(s);
• unique identifier of the author / each of the authors of the study ORCID ID.
Authors should indicate their affiliation with a specific institution as provided on its official website, e.g.:

Requirements for article abstracts:
The abstract should briefly reflect the content of the article, since for most readers it will be the main source of information about the presented research. Style requirements: without general words, methodological details, references and abbreviations, specification of the author’s contribution (what was developed, proposed, substantiated, carried out, determined, discovered, implemented, etc.)
The volume of the abstract in Ukrainian is up to 500 characters (without spaces), in English – up to 1 thousand characters.
An abstract with keywords in Ukrainian is not submitted for the sections “Thoughts beyond time”, “Reviews”, “Our consultations” (in English – at the author’s request).
Keywords – 4–8 words-terms.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE NEW TEXT:
The length of the article (including references and annotations) is up to 15 pages.
The length of the contribution to the “Our Consultations” section is up to 3 pages.
Page format: A-4, 1.5 spacing; margins: all – 2 cm, paragraph – 1.25 cm indent.
Font: Times New Roman, size – 14, made on a computer in the Word for Windows editor (*.doc / *.docs ). Formulas, graphs, tables should be created using special programs built into Word for Windows.
MANDATORY COMPONENTS OF THE ARTICLE STRUCTURE (they do not need to be highlighted in the text!):
• Introduction (prerequisites, relevance, goal and objectives of the study).
• Methods (in case of using special methods and techniques)
• Results.
• Conclusions and prospects of the study.
REFERENCES:
• scientific sources of the list of references should be presented in square brackets: indicate the author’s surname or the first word of the source name (after the list of references) and the year of publication, and after a colon – the page(s), e.g.: [Ivanenko 2018: 27 – 29]; [Ibid.]; [Ibid.: 87]. Near the source of a multi-volume publication, indicate the number in Roman numerals, e.g.: [Shevelyov 2009 II: 15].
• sources of the list of conditional abbreviations should be placed in parentheses, e.g.: (СлЭп); (Ibid.); (Ibid.: 378); (СУМ ВІІ: 138); (Голос України, 12.10.2025).
Self-citation should not exceed 15% of the total number of cited sources;
• in case of using AI, before the list of references it is necessary to add a separate section called “Declaration on the use of AI”, indicating the name of the tool.
REFERENCES (given before LEGEND). For articles, we recommend the following structure of bibliographic references: transliterated surname and initials of the author (put a comma between the initials and surname. For example: Yatsenko, M.T.); year of publication in parentheses (after – a period); translation of the title of the article into English (names of sources – collections, journals, books – are given in English); names of publishing houses are transliterated; source data with designations in English; in parentheses indicate the language of publication. For example:

ARTICLES SUBMITTED WITHOUT COMPLIANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED.
Materials accepted for publication in the collection are subject to review by the editorial board and subsequent double-blind [double “blind” (anonymous)] review. If necessary, additional independent, confidential review may be applied.
The editorial board of the collection reserves the right to review, edit, shorten (without changing the authors’ positions) and select articles. In the event of a negative review or the presence of significant comments, the article may be rejected or sent to the author(s) for revision. Rejected manuscripts are not returned to the authors. Reviewed, revised articles are considered by the Editorial Board of the collection, and recommended for publication by the Academic Council of the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the NAS of Ukraine.
The authors of the publication are responsible for the accuracy of information, facts and other data, references to regulatory acts, quotations, proper names, as well as the correctness of the translation.
Materials published in the journal reflect the views of the authors, which may not always coincide with the position of the editorial board.
